Shaking things up... thoughtfully.

Shaking things up… thoughtfully.

Movers and Musers is an exploratory space for contemplative folk; the introverts and reflective extroverts, the deep thinkers, and the MUSERS. A place to find inspiration, share ideas, RUFFLE some FEATHERS, and thrive at work and in life.

About

Hi, Thank you so much for stopping by! I am grateful that you’ve chosen to spend some time here and I hope you find a tidbit or two that helps brighten or ease your day.

I started this site to brainstorm and record my trials and tribulations just for myself, but decided to share them with all you thoughtful and intelligent beings out there with the hope that we can learn from each other and help each other.

I've been using my ever-growing quiver of introvert powers to lead teams as small as 10 and as large as 250 for more than 20 years now, and sometimes I even get it right! Along the way, I found that the core of how I try to lead in my work life is intrinsically tied into how I try to be in my personal life. Sometimes it works, and sometimes it is in conflict. So now I write about it all because in the end the underlying motivations are the same; interact with the world with integrity, intention, and thoughtfulness.

As it turns out I’ve been thinking about this stuff for years since I was in school so it makes sense that I start writing some of it down. I studied anthropology and sociology at university so it turns out I’ve been MUSING over how people connect, and about the human experience, much longer than I’d even realized.

My own journey to leadership could be described as an awkward stumble off of the edge of a cliff. I unexpectedly found myself in charge of a lot of people rather suddenly, and in the beginning it was a bit terrifying. I had to learn a lot quickly and that meant lots of mistakes along the way to learn from. You can read more about that whole adventure here (coming soon).

My own experience of being a human is still a work in progress and I hope it stays that way.
